TruckSuspension Systems

Your truck's suspension manages every pound of payload, tow weight, and impact force. Whether you need Fox 2.5 performance shocks for off-road trails, Bilstein 5100s for tow rig duty, or a complete Carli Suspension system for long-travel performance — we design, source, and install truck suspension systems built for how you use your truck.

Suspension Solutions

Truck suspension isn't one-size-fits-all. A 4x4 that tows a 10,000 lb trailer needs completely different valving than one that runs off-road trails near Dallas-Fort Worth every weekend.

Performance Shock Upgrade

Replace factory twin-tube shocks with monotube performance units from Fox, Bilstein, Icon, or King. Immediate improvement in body control, towing stability, and off-road damping. The single best bang-for-buck suspension upgrade.

Towing & Hauling Setup

Heavy-duty springs, Bilstein 5100 or Fox 2.0 shocks, and rear helper springs or airbag assist for trucks that tow regularly. Eliminates rear sag, sway, and nose-dive under load on I-35 and Highway 183.

Off-Road Performance System

Complete long-travel suspension from Icon, Fox, or Carli. Adjustable coilovers, extended upper control arms, rear leaf springs with add-a-leaf or full packs, and dual steering stabilizers. Built for serious trail duty.

The Metroplex Advantage

Why Choose
Metroplex?

We match shock valving, spring rates, and control arm geometry to your truck's weight, driving patterns, and mods. A 6,000 lb stock truck and a 9,000 lb truck with a bumper, winch, and rooftop tent need completely different suspension tuning.

Application-Matched Components

We don't just install shocks — we match valving to your truck's loaded weight. Bilstein 5100s for tow trucks get different settings than their off-road equivalent. Fox 2.5s get adjusted for front bumper weight.

Fox, Bilstein, Icon, King & Carli

We install suspension from the brands that professional off-roaders and overlanders trust. All components carry full manufacturer warranties and are sourced through authorized channels.

Alignment & Corner Weighting

Every suspension job includes a Hunter HawkEye 4-wheel alignment. For performance builds, we can corner-weight and adjust preload for balanced handling under load.

Pro Tip from the Shop

Shock valving is the most overlooked spec in truck suspension. A Fox 2.0 performer and a Fox 2.0 IFP have the same body diameter but completely different damping characteristics. The Performer is valved for light-duty street — it'll bottom out running dirt roads at speed. The IFP has firmer compression and rebound for off-road. We always spec valving based on what the truck actually does — not what looks best on an Instagram parts list.

The Process

01

Usage Assessment

We discuss how you use your truck — towing weight, off-road frequency, daily driving conditions — and inspect your current suspension for wear.

02

System Design

We spec springs, shocks, and control arms matched to your truck's loaded weight and modifications. Every component is sourced from authorized distributors.

03

Professional Installation

Full suspension teardown and rebuild with new components. Every fastener torqued to spec, new hardware where required, and proper grease on all pivot points.

04

Alignment & Test

Hunter HawkEye 4-wheel alignment, loaded and unloaded clearance verification, and extended road test.

Avoid These Pitfalls

Common Mistakes We Fix

We regularly correct mismatched and poorly installed truck suspension. These are the failures we see most.

Wrong Shock Valving for Application

Installing shocks valved for street use on an off-road truck — or vice versa — results in either a harsh ride or excessive body roll and bottoming out. We match valving to your truck's actual use case.

Not Upgrading Upper Control Arms with Lifts

Lifted trucks running factory upper control arms (UCAs) put the ball joint at extreme angles, causing accelerated wear and potential failure. We spec upgraded UCAs with uniball or oversized ball joints on lifts over 2".

Ignoring Leaf Spring Condition

Factory leaf springs lose their arch over time, causing rear sag. Adding new shocks to flat leaf springs won't fix the problem. We replace worn leaf packs or add properly rated add-a-leaf kits.

Cheap eBay Coilovers with No Warranty

Budget coilovers from unknown manufacturers use inferior rod materials and seals that leak within 10,000 miles. We install only from Fox, Bilstein, Icon, King, and Carli — manufacturers with proper engineering and warranty support.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Most factory shocks lose significant damping ability between 50,000–75,000 miles. Signs include excessive body roll in turns, nose-dive during braking, bottoming out on bumps, and a generally floaty or unsettled ride. If your truck tows or runs off-road frequently, replacement may be needed sooner.

For trucks that tow regularly, we recommend Bilstein 5100 or Fox 2.0 Performance series shocks paired with upgraded rear springs or airbag assist. These shocks have firmer compression valving that resists rear squat and nose-dive under trailer loads.

In most cases, yes. Factory shocks are designed for stock ride height — on a lifted truck, they're operating at or near full droop, which reduces their effective damping range. Lift-specific shocks from Fox, Bilstein, or Icon are valved and sized for the new ride height.

Twin-tube shocks (most factory units) have two nested cylinders with an inner working cylinder. Monotube shocks have a single cylinder with a floating piston separating oil and gas. Monotube designs dissipate heat faster, resist fade better, and provide more consistent damping — they're the standard for performance applications.

Shock-only upgrades take 2–4 hours. Full suspension packages with springs, shocks, and UCAs take a full day. Complete long-travel systems take 1–2 days. All installations include alignment and road testing.
