PerformanceLowering Springs

Lowering coil springs are the most accessible suspension upgrade — a 1–2" drop that eliminates wheel gap, lowers the center of gravity, and sharpens turn-in response. We install progressive-rate springs from Eibach, H&R, Tein, and Swift that are engineered to work with your factory struts — maintaining ride quality while transforming your car's stance and handling.

Preview Your Drop

A 1" drop and a 2" drop look nothing alike, and neither one looks like the render on the box. Upload a photo of your car, pick a height, and see the stance on your own vehicle before you order springs.

Anything past 1.5" adds negative camber. Left uncorrected it eats the inner edge of your tires within a few thousand miles. Every install we do includes a Hunter HawkEye alignment. About alignment

Spring Options

We match spring rate and drop height to your vehicle weight, strut condition, and how aggressive you want the stance. Not every car should run the same drop.

Eibach Pro-Kit

The industry standard for sport lowering — progressive spring rates engineered for your specific vehicle. 0.8–1.2" drop with excellent ride quality retention. Eibach designs each kit on the actual vehicle platform, not just to a weight target.

H&R Sport Springs

German-engineered with a slightly firmer rate than Eibach for drivers who prioritize cornering response over ride comfort. 1.0–1.5" drop with reduced body roll. Excellent for European cars (BMW, Audi, Mercedes) that benefit from the stiffer rate.

Tein S.Tech / Swift Spec-R

Japanese performance springs with aggressive drop heights (1.5–2.5") for maximum stance. Best paired with aftermarket shortened struts or coilover conversion. Ideal for Honda, Subaru, Nissan, and Toyota platforms.

The Metroplex Advantage

Why Choose
Metroplex?

We don't just swap springs and send you home. We inspect strut condition, verify spring rate compatibility, install with proper spring compressor technique, and finish with a Hunter HawkEye alignment — because lowering without alignment is a guaranteed tire destroyer.

Strut Condition Inspection

We check your factory struts for leaks, worn bushings, and piston blow-by before installing lowering springs. Dropping 1.5" on 80,000-mile struts causes bottoming out — we'll recommend strut replacement if needed.

Alignment Included

Every lowering spring install includes a Hunter HawkEye 4-wheel alignment. Lowering adds negative camber — without correction, your inner tire edges wear out in as little as 3,000 miles.

Progressive Rate Springs Only

All springs we install use progressive rates — softer at the top of travel for comfort, firmer under compression for control. Linear-rate springs designed for race cars make terrible daily drivers on Dallas-Fort Worth streets.

Pro Tip from the Shop

Progressive spring rates are non-negotiable for daily-driven cars. A progressive spring starts at a 300 lb/in rate at the top of travel (comfortable over small bumps) and ramps to 500+ lb/in under compression (controls body roll in corners and prevents bottoming out). Linear-rate springs deliver the same force at every point — meaning they're either too stiff for small bumps or too soft for hard inputs. We only install progressive-rate springs for street-driven vehicles.

The Process

01

Vehicle Assessment

We measure current ride height, inspect strut condition, and discuss your drop preference and driving style.

02

Spring Selection

Based on your vehicle weight, strut condition, and drop goals, we recommend the right spring brand and rate for your platform.

03

Professional Install

Springs swapped using a proper spring compressor, upper strut mounts inspected and replaced if worn, and hardware torqued to OE spec.

04

Alignment & Delivery

Full Hunter HawkEye alignment with camber correction. Road test to verify ride quality and settling. Re-torque reminder at 100 miles.

Avoid These Pitfalls

Common Mistakes We Fix

Lowering springs seem simple, but these common mistakes lead to poor ride quality and premature wear.

Installing on Worn Struts

Lowering springs push struts deeper into compression. If your struts have 60K+ miles, the internal valving is degraded — you'll bottom out on every bump and the ride will be harsh and bouncy.

Cutting Factory Springs

Cutting springs is dangerous and uncontrollable. It changes spring rate unpredictably, creates a rough end that can slip off the perch, and eliminates the progressive rate designed into the coil.

Skipping Alignment

Even a 1" drop changes camber enough to cause visible inside-edge tire wear within 3,000–5,000 miles. We include alignment with every spring install — it's not optional.

eBay Springs with Unknown Rates

Unbranded springs don't publish spring rates or vehicle-specific engineering data. You have no idea if the rate matches your struts or vehicle weight. We only install springs from Eibach, H&R, Tein, and Swift.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Quality lowering springs from Eibach, H&R, and Tein are specifically designed to work with OE struts — their spring rates are engineered to match factory damping. However, if your struts have 60,000+ miles, the internal valving may be too worn for the new springs. We inspect strut condition before every install.

Drop varies by brand and kit — typically 0.8" to 2.5". Eibach Pro-Kit drops 0.8–1.2", H&R Sport Springs drop 1.0–1.5", and aggressive kits like Tein S.Tech can drop 1.5–2.5". We recommend the right drop for your vehicle and driving needs.

Progressive-rate lowering springs maintain good ride quality — they're softer over small bumps and firmer under load. Most drivers report a slightly firmer but more controlled feel compared to stock. The key is using vehicle-specific springs with proper rates.

Most lowering spring installations take 3–5 hours including alignment. Vehicles with MacPherson struts are quicker, while multi-link rear suspensions take slightly longer. All installs include a Hunter HawkEye alignment and road test.

We strongly recommend professional installation. Spring compressor work requires specialized tools and experience — an improperly compressed spring can release with lethal force. Professional installation also ensures proper torque, alignment, and strut condition verification.
